Boston Velodrome

Boston Velodrome, just think how cool an indoor velodrome would be in the dead of winter. Every school in the area would want to have a team. If it was in Boston that would be the bee's knees it would be used a lot. Intercollegiate rivalry's would be just grand. All the fixie crowd could go fast in circles with no cars. The prospects are vast. So go take the the survey & get behind our own future velodrome: www.bostonvelodrome.com

NAHMBS

Building madly for the 2009 North American Hand Made Bicycle Show out in Indianapolis, Indiana. A lot of builders will be there so it is the candyland of gum dipped bicycles. Some of the best builders going. IgleBike will be in booth # 227, next to Kieth Anderson Cycles. Kieth & I have too much fun at these shows so it should be a large time. Uncle Ross will be missed though he is out launching his cool new seatpost:

A very interesting design. Can not wait to try one. The idea sounds so practical.
Anyway, I am excited to be at my 4th NAHMBS displaying with such great people. Have 4 new builds to show off, which I shall save for later with snap shots of the booth & maybe some fun.
Have more forks to go make, bye.

So looking at the web sight there are no pictures of the Traditional New England Segmented Fork (T.N.E.S.F.)so here are some rather terrible photos I took & now are here for the curious.
Making NAMBS show bikes right now, will have a selection of bikes to show out in Indianapolis. I will say more once I know certain parts are going to make it. One bike is figured out & it is a hoot: A belt drive coasterbrake get around bike, something for the fun of riding around. Making commuter bikes calling them "Yoyodyne" as that just sounds like something corporate that will take over the world(thank you Thomas Pynchon)

Happy Holydaze to all.
Well, a new year & a new outlook is a good thing to have with so much going on. I think everyone would agree that a new year would be great with more riding of one's bicycle. Riding to work has always been my favorite pedal. Going into your day to day with it in your face makes you always have a better day. Even if it is not a good day at work your ride home can be the best part. Personally, & that is what a blog is about, a commuting bike is my most favorite ride to build. To not use a car to get to one's gig is just the best for everything. You get to work awake & more ready to work than those who drove, you have the caffeine already careening through your veins & your health care costs go down (employers take note). Though one should, when riding at night , wear white, use a light & stick to the right. Also no lights no rights would go along with it, though it may offend, think about it. If one rides the road & can not be seen, it is not the cars fault.
Anyway to keep the ride to work theme in the light here I get to show off a bike I am really excited about, Miriam Kornitzer's Supper Commuter. Assembly by Thom P. who is a great inspiring blogger & has more pix of this great bike: see TomP. on the right side...over there->

650c road frame & fork "svetlana" the little blue bike

This is a Columbus Life steel frame made for Tanya, who never had a frame that fit. Now she is off on 100+ mile fun rides & challenges. The frame is 40cm center to center with a 53cm top tube. The fork is a segmented road fork that is 340mm long. A 650c bike is an answer for some people with shorter legs. Comfort is an important factor in frame design & Tanya thinks "Svetlana" is the bee's knees.
